Riot Games Merch Series 3 Figures

Series 3 of the LoL figures is starting with a bang! The Riot Games Merch Store has released the first of the new series of figures, Teemo! With the addition of a Showcase, we can also see 24 more figures planned for this series. Here's more from the Riot Games Merch FB:
"There is no one better suited to kick off Series 3 other than the legendary Swift Scout, Teemo. https://riot.com/2ucmCDi
We redesigned the packaging and authentication card for Series 3 and are pleased to announce some new editions to this line that you will see in coming months: XL Edition figures that celebrate champions who have a slightly bigger story to tell, DUO Edition figure sets that contain two tightly connected characters, and ultra-super-extremely-rare CHROMA Edition figures. We're pretty hyped and hope you are too!"
"Hut, two, three, four. The Swift Scout is reporting in to start off our Series 3 figure line."

A new LoL Series Figures Showcase was added to the merch site, where you can look back at each figure in each series, as well as see placeholders for the 24 remaining champions in series 3!
Keep an eye out for more figure releases in the future!

Check out the Champ Memotions Contest!

Here's SandalwoodGrips with details on the Champ Memotions art contest:
"Get ready to show us your favorite champion’s game face, or their sad face, or their mad face! We’ve got all the info you’ll need to put your best face forward!
THE PROMPT
Your task is to create a portrait of a champion, from the shoulders up, showing an intense emotion. Whether that’s Garen roaring “Demacia,” or Annie grinning maniacally, eyes blazing, or Braum in the throes of a belly-busting laugh, the choice is yours. And no backgrounds required! For this particular piece you should be focusing on the champ’s face and their emotions, nothing else. Think you’re up to the challenge?
Check out an example by DdeadBear for a little inspiration! Zoe's SO sad!
SUBMISSIONS
Head over to the Woobox submission form here! That's really all it takes!

Quick Hits

  • Here's W4terboy with more details on mandatory email verification, coming to NA/EUW/EUNE in small test groups before a wider release:
"Hey All,
A few months back we announced our plans to roll out mandatory email verification later this year.
There was an initial grace period, where players without a verified email address were notified of the upcoming need to verify through a pop-up message in game. We are now transitioning from that optional notification to mandatory verification, which means you will need to have a verified email before you are able to continue playing the game.
The primary intention for this is to provide better account security as well as to unlock future functionality like multifactor authentication and automated account recovery.
To make sure the process is as smooth as possible, we will be rolling out mandatory verification for a test group of players in NA/EUW/EUNE while the remaining unverified players will continue to see the optional notification. Once we've confirmed the initial tests work, we will expand the test group until it becomes mandatory for all NA/EUW/EUNE players.
If you have issues preventing you from verifying, you can contact player support here. Select the request type, "I need help with Account Management". For general info about email verification, check out our Knowledge Base article here"
  • Riot Maple provided his thoughts on the funneling strategy:
[1] "We're actually taking a pretty hefty swing at it in 8.14. We're not looking to murder the strategy outright, but make it far more likely it is suboptimal as a way to win a game of League."
[2] "Some general thoughts:
  1. Non-interactive: Funneling is based on interacting with your opponent as little as possible until the 20 minute mark. You're farming the jungle, you're clearing mid, rinse wash repeat. This drastically reduces the promised experience of lane phase which is one of the most important parts of League. Those minutes are where you get to prove that you're better than your direct opponent and gain an edge, but the funnel strat turns the lane phase into a pve experience rather than a pvp for the opponent, leading to a very hollow feeling for the game. When you refer to funneling in bot lane, that's something we've embraced over the years because the lane phase is still very dynamic. In bot, supports have agency in determining the outcome of the lane through zoning, combat, or multiplicative effects, whereas in mid funneling the supports agency is primarily in making in making sure the creeps don't die to the turret (might be an overly reductive statement, but I hope you get the idea).
  2. Not all that engaging to watch (this is more strictly pro-focused). Similar to the lane swap meta we'd seen in the past, a strategy that encourages minimal interaction with opponents is not one that leads to a positive viewing experience for the majority of games when you see the strategy utilized. One of the things we need to be highly aware of for pro is that the moment a particular strategy is considered optimal, all teams tend to gravitate towards it. What was fresh and exciting because it was new becomes rote and boring because it ends up in every game - again, especially when the strategy encourages minimal interaction.
  3. When you run into this in solo queue it's almost always because it's a duo queue that's highly coordinated and can execute the strategy. By virtue of that alone, it's very difficult to counter, even if you have a champion that theoretically should be good picks into the strat. This translates to very frustrating games where the opponent feels powerless (lack of agency) and can only watch as they fall behind on gold and xp.
This isn't an exhaustive list, but wanted to touch on some of the things we discussed when making this decision."
